Food supplements are also an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. Modern people live a fast-paced life, and it is common for qi and blood to be depleted. Today’s recipe is Yuling Paste, which is simple and complex, and is especially suitable for sub-health conditioning.
Yuling Paste, called 玉灵膏 Also known as a ginseng substitute paste,
is a classic food therapy recipe recorded by Wang Mengying, a famous doctor in the Qing Dynasty, in his book “Sui Xi Ju Diet”. Wang Mengying is proficient in febrile disease studies and food therapy. He believes that “medicine supplements are not as good as food supplements”, and Yuling Paste is a popular tonic recipe he recommends.
This recipe was originally designed for people who are mentally exhausted and have blood damage, weak body and qi deficiency. It is made with natural ingredients, is gentle and warm, and is known as “the best paste for blood and qi supplements”.
According to TCM theory, the core effect of Yuling Paste is to nourish the heart, replenish qi and produce body fluid, strengthen the spleen and calm the mind.
Longan meat (longan) is sweet and warm, belongs to the heart and spleen meridians, nourishes blood and nourishes the heart, strengthens the brain and calms the mind, and improves pale complexion, palpitations and insomnia.
American ginseng is cool and slightly bitter, replenishes qi and nourishes yin, neutralizes the dryness of longan, prevents getting angry, and is suitable for those who are weak and cannot be supplemented.
The two are matched, qi and blood are in harmony, spleen and stomach transportation is enhanced, fatigue, forgetfulness, and qi and blood deficiency after childbirth and surgery are relieved.
The recipe is suitable for those with insufficient qi and blood, insomnia and dreaminess, postpartum physical weakness, and mental labor.
It is not suitable for people with internal dampness and heat, colds and fever, pregnant women and diabetes.
Yuling Paste embodies the wisdom of Chinese medicine for thousands of years, and transforms ordinary ingredients into the source of qi and blood. Slow-cooking for a long time is not only about ingredients but also the health-preserving method of “preventing illness before it happens” of the ancients.
